PBS NewsHour had problems. This trusted team of journalists was stymied by an obsolete Content Management System, and their website didn’t perform on mobile devices. As Creative Director and Director of Operations of the Interactive Group at WNET (PBS’s flagship station), I led a geographically distributed team to radically modernize NewsHour’s front and back ends, halving production time and beating traffic targets. Stats in the first year: mobile visits doubled to nearly 3 million and total page views went up over 100%.
